Character Name: Elijah (Eli) Walsh

Canon: Original Character
Canon Point: After a late-night bar brawl in the RH (Recovered Human) district of the city.

Defining Events:

  • The ultimate life-changing event in Eli's life was when he was abducted as a child into a wolf demon's pack, given lycanthropy, and then saved by the demon-hunting guerilla unit known as the Spades.

  • After being rescued, Eli was still too feral and dangerous to be let loose into any normal human population. Still, the Spades resolved to put in the work to find a way to contain the demonic energies that made him such a little monster. After a year, they succeeded, which paved the way for recovering and returning humanity to others who had been changed. Once Eli was confirmed to be a mostly uncontrollable little boy, the captain of the Spades adopted him as her own son. He was raised by her and the rest of the unit, becoming their scout and putting what abilities he retained to good use.

  • During the final push to retake the city of Sydney, his mother was gravely injured and lost an arm. This would put an end to her career in the field. Eli was left with the choice of continuing the fight against the remaining demonic forces with the Spades or staying in Sydney with his mom, who was given a new job to aid in rebuilding the city. Eli chose to stay, but it's a decision he struggles with almost daily.
Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths:
  • Even without the enhanced abilities lent to him by his demonic background, Eli is still incredibly athletic and has focused heavily on combat and tracking skills. These were incredibly useful during his roving days with the Spades. He lands on the wiry, speedy side of things, capable of running long distances with little trouble, climbing, and, for lack of a better word, parkour. Similarly, he can pack quite a punch and prefers fists as his weapon of choice.

  • Eli is a stubborn son of a binch. This is not always a good thing, but it does mean he refuses to give up or go down easily. Truly a double-edged sword since it means he picks many unnecessary fights to go along with that refusal to give up.

  • Without a doubt, his loyalty is another strength and opens people up to the kinder side of him. He isn't good at showing it, what with his chaotic, war-torn upbringing, but once he's decided someone is worth following or protecting, he will be by their side as much as possible, doing whatever he can to help.
Weaknesses:
  • An explosive temper is one of his worst weaknesses. While he hates to admit it, he is, ultimately, a meathead, and when confronted by someone more clever or a problem that can't be brute-forced, he explodes in anger at them. This has landed him in plenty of trouble during his year living in post-apocalyptic Sydney, and his mother has repeatedly had to bail him out. Every time, he says he'll do better, and yet...

  • Eli is a young man torn between his humanity and the part of him inflicted by the wolf demon that gave him lycanthropy. While he has his changes and the actual danger of being infectious under control (thanks to his pendant), that only does so much to suppress the urge to run wild in the less deadly ways. He wants to flee to the city. He wants to run under the moonlight, hunt after demons and other enemies, and be free of the constraints of society, but in the same vein, he desires to be normal, just like everyone else, believing it will fix all of his problems and make life easier.

  • He's a big dumb dumb, to put it humorously. Look, he simply isn't interested in learning anything complex that doesn't involve combat or tracking somehow. He can read fine, he can write (legibility of his handwriting is up for debate), he can do his general maths, but as far as he's concerned, he's meant to be out there fighting demons and is happy to leave the more complex parts of rebuilding society to those who actually have a clue.
Inventory: Werewolf pendant (a necklace with a large wolf demon claw affixed to a simple chain), a pocketful of military scrip notes (the current currency of post-apocalyptic Sydney).

Weapon: Set of brass knuckles, gifted.

  • His switchblade - a knife he can open with a flick of the wrist.

  • His mom's ID tag.

  • His red leather jacket with a large DDF SPADES insignia sewn into the back - he wasn't wearing it out that evening, oops.
→ Persona Info

Persona: Garm, the guardian of Helhiem. Garm is a massive red-furred hound with an intimidatingly large spiked metal collar. Technically, already in the Persona games, so I'm taking inspiration from there. Primarily chosen because, while a hellhound with connections to death, he's also considered a protector and venerated for his strength; these are two traits Eli wishes to have attributed to him someday, too.

Game Goals: Eli struggles with finding a place within his new city life back home but wants to make it work for his mom's sake. Whether his arc helps him acclimate to a normal life or encourages him to follow his wild heart back to the wilderness heavily depends on how his CR in-game goes, but that will be the ultimate goal for Eli's endgame.
